Our design models are all stitched with DMC Art 237 Machine Embroidery Cotton, 50 wt. Our PDF Color Stop Thread Lists include DMC, Sulky Rayon, and Robison-Anton Rayon color matches. Due to the fact that there are so many other brands of thread available and in use, we offer a PDF listing of several brands of thread.

Please understand that this list is simply a suggestion. We have subjectively come up with the best matches in each of these brands possible, but these are subjective. If three different people, by eye, choose color matches, there will inevitably be three different lists! Also remember that you can combine different brands with each other. While you should try to use the same type of thread (ie. all cotton, or all rayon, or all polyester), you can still achieve nice stitch outs with a couple of brands combined, especially if they are the same weight (ie. 40 wt or 50 wt).

Our PDF Color Stop Thread Lists display the basic colors in each design, along with a fairly generic Color Name. Please note that the colors are arranged in color families, usually from Dark to Light. If a design requires 3 blues (Dark, Medium, and Light) you will need to simply choose 3 blues from whatever brand of thread you use. When selecting your colors, try to choose the shades with enough difference between them, so that each "reads" distinctly from each other.

You can sometimes choose 3 blues from different color families and they will still stitch out quite well. For instance for the 3 blues, you could choose a Dark Royal Blue, a Medium Turquoise Blue and a Light Royal Blue. The most important aspect is the Dark, Medium, and Light quality of each color!
